Pa1538 mouse is crazy (finger pad)

Beitragvon thomas_france » 10.03.2007 12:03

Hi,
Sorry to write in english but I lost my German (I did learn German for 5 years, but it's too old now and I forgot almost everything). I hope you will foregive me ;-)
It seems that the problem I'll describe is already mentionned in this forum but I've not understood if there is any solution provided. I tried to contact my FCS support in France but no reply as of now.

Here is the problem :
The finger pad (touchpad) of my Pa1538 is going crazy sometimes (i.e the pointer does not move at all and suddenlty jumps; also clicks or double click made on the finger pad itself sometimes do not work and needs to be repeated). Note that this problem existed on this brand new Pa1538 "as received" (no new driver / software installed).
As this computer is a good value for the price (699Eur), I decided to keep it but I strongly expect to get support from FCS (or alternatively from the community) to fix this.
I bought an USB mouse that seems to fix the problem.
I'm runnig XP MC and using the latest bios (1.1F). The finger pad is made by AVC, its driver is 8.0.4.2 which is supposed to be the latest one.
Any comment or suggestion will be highly appreciated !
Thanks
Thomas

Hey mate,
it looks like the pa1538 has a hardware defect.
the wifi card is not compatible with the grafic card, this is why there are so many problems with this notebook.

hi,

first of all,

do you have the atheros or the sis wifi card in your notebook?!

then you could give a try on the synaptics touchpad driver (although it's an AVC pad) -> www.synaptics.com.

If your Notebook has built in the Atheros Wifi card there's a deeper problem but you should try the synaptics driver first.

Thanks to both of you for your answer !

First, an update to the problem description :
- no FCS has not replied yet (well, it seems to be common for this company to look down on their clients),
- the problem also exists with an USB mouse (but it is less less annoying). It looks like a synchronization issue, as if data coming from the input device was not handled for a few µsec and then released to the O.S, hence crazy behaviour of the mouse pointer,
- more annoying is that the problem also exists under Linux ! So we can assume this is not a driver or OS issue but hardware / bios related.

To answer to Henning86 :
This is a SiS WLAN card.

I just found that there are some I/O conflict reported by Device Manager (attached is a screen shot) :
NVIDIA PCI nForce PCI system management has a I/O conflict 3040-307F and 3000-303F (both are used by "motherboard ressources").
Is this related ? How to fix that (the config is "as received", no hardware added except a Microsoft USB mouse).

I may give a try with the synaptic driver or maybe wait for Vista (I should get it soon). But resolving the I/O conflict might be the solution.

Good week end to the forum !
