Hi Leute,

http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic-t-355155.html

Also, vielen Dank schonmal im voraus,
Gruss Henri

Hi,

siehe http://acpi.sourceforge.net/dsdt/index.php

KLG:

Ich probiere in english :-) (Entschuldigung !).

With the stock SuSE 9.3 Kernel (2.6.11-5-21 or so), the machine erratically hang, before loading KDE, or (when I got it to load KDE), before the shutdown process, and so on.

So I downloaded 2.6.12.2 with the ACPI path (from acpi.sourceforge.net) nad I got it to compile (quite slow with APM on), and boot. I have to recompile the nvidia driver again, and test if ACPI now works correctly.

mp3 is not a big deal, you can install xmms from sources, and that brings mp3 (and ogg ;-)), when you download it from the xmms site. SuSE doesn't provide mp3 reproduction and dvd reproduction. But xine from sources with libdvdcss, makes the trick.

I got also Gentoo 2005.0, I'll see if can succesfully install it, because I still don't have internet zu Hause, (so only stage 3 available).

I hope the sound will work with the new Kernel.

Now in deutsch !

It works! - I got sound!

Why? - I found out that even 1.0.9b is not ready for this soundcard.

Allright, how to do it:

Remove alsa as well as oss support from the kernel, but leave basic sound support.
Recompile and install the new kernel with modules.

Restart without sound supportjust to get sure modules are updated.

Fetch the actual alsa sources from the alsa-cvs repository.
(Just create a directory /usr/src/alsa and cd into it. Now follow the instructions on the alsa homepage and fetch the actual cvs-tree.)

Type "make"...
...after the build type "alsaconf" and follow the instructions.

Now ensure the drivers get loaded after a reboot.

Reboot and that should be it!

yours Henri

cybercoder> Vielen Dank :D

pacitosys/cybercoder> I have also acpi problems, when i delete from grub.conf the line "acpi=off pci=noacpi" i cal login, but then it crashes....

Anyway i can live with that right now, but when i return from holidays i ll have to deal with that to!!! The WirLan won't work without acpi support?

I have installed the Realtek OSS 8... module in kernel, is this the right one? I couldnt find any other Realtek soundcard (kernel 2.6.12r6)

cybercoder>You mean leave the basic Intel support?

(sorry for writing in english but i forgot my greek/german in athens :D )

Batista,

Ok, I compiled kernel 2.6.12.2 with ACPI, but now hangs after loading the acpi modules :-(.

So I'm still 2.6.11.5.21 with acpi=off and APM=on
