Xa 3530 - Win 7 Treiber  Thema ist gelöst

Beitragvon Flashgott » 13.09.2010 00:00

Hallo.

Hi all!
I wonder if anyone has tried to install Windows 8 on Amilo Xa 3530, and if so, what are the impressions?
Are there problems related to drivers after the instalation?
Thanks in advance :)

Hi!
I really did it and installed windows 8 x64 on this one and I got it to run really smoothly! There were of cause some issues to mess around and for one thing there is no solution so far, but it is Ok for me. So I tried only the x64 version, hope the x32 works in the similar way...
So, first you just instal windows 8 in the normal way, once you decided which way to go. After the standard setup routine is finished you will find yourself in the new UI and it would already be not bad. Start the desktop app to get into the environment you are either used to, here you can start the device manager and other system controls in the old way and see what is going on.
First of all, you must get this dual ATI graphic device to work properly. Windows 8 installs a driver for both graphic cards, but only the small one is working and there is no control application to switch between them or Duane other settings like power consumption (the card simply runs on full power all the time, causing the fan to go up). So as all the old vista or windows 7 drivers offered by FSC won't be accepted, use the latest generic drivers for outdated devices offered by AMD. Don't forget to instal the control application at this. It may start not completely with windows, but you can help it by clicking on the symbol in the info tray. It should work in the end. For me, it works quite good, I can switch the cards, set the power express and the suspend mode works. After that instal the latest launch control for x64 you can find at FSC, I used the one from the vista x64 section, it works perfectly, you can switch the cards and so on.
Instal the latest Synaptics touch pad driver from their home page, it offers some nice controls specially for windows 8!
Forget to find working drivers for the IR receiver, there are no. So the remote control won't work. I personally never used it anyway.
Instal the newest drivers for the card reader from FSC, it will make some red unknown devices to disappear in the device manager.
The Web cam will work with windows' own standard drivers with most applications like Skype, but not with the camera app of windows 8 :-( however, you can at least use the adjustment controls of the latest Logitech driver package, though the device is not supported..
That's it, enjoy!

Hi!
Well, recently, I also had to install Windows 8 x64 again (now the full version, last time it was only the trial version) and had to realize that those graphic cards require a very strange but certain sequence of actions for a proper installation of drivers:
1. Starting situation: you have Windows 8 installed and the small graphic card is running with the windows' own driver and the big one is not installed properly. (If you already somehow screwed it up with some AMD drivers, uninstal all stuff from AMD/ATI...)
2. Download following 2 latest driver packages from AMD :
- AMD Catalyst x64 Mobility Drivers
- AMD Catalyst x64 Legacy Drivers
(I'm not allowed to include web links in the post, so please use Google and the AMD homepage)
3. Start installation of the Mobility package, chose the customized way, and install all things suggested by the setup. Be noted that NO "driver" will be offered here, just the supporting applications, because no drivers for old cards are included here anymore (That's what the "legacy" package is for).
4. Start installation of the Legacy package and note the directory where the package was decompressed. Chose the customized way, and install all things EXCEPT the "driver" and the "video accelerator". If you try to install the driver here you will get the BSOD! And that "video acceleration" stuff is not compatible with Windows 8, you would get an error on every start then.
5. Go into the Device Manager, go to the graphic devices, right-click the small one and select "update driver" and install the driver from the AMD/Support directory where the Legacy driver package was decompressed into (e.g. "C:\AMD\Support\13-1-legacy_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc").
6. Start the setup of the legacy package again, chose un-install and select only the "AMD VISION Engine Control Center" to be un-installed.
7. Restart Windows and hope that you won't have the BSOD during the start-up.
8. Once you survived the boot load, go into the Enrgy Setup in System Control, go into the advanced settings of the current scheme. There should be now a new item at the very bottom of the list called "ATI Graphics Power Settings" (or something like this), this shows that the new drivers are working already. If there is no such new entry, something gone wrong..
9. Now start the setup of the Legacy(!) package again and re-install the "AMD VISION Engine Control Center". You will maybe notice that the setup says that no drivers are installed and suggests to install them. You can try it now, it won't work.
10. However, after re-install of the AMD VISION Control restart the computer.
11. After the re-boot, the AMD Vision Control should be in the status bar of the Desktop. Right-click on it, there should be both graphic cards active. You should now be able to switch between the cards with no problems. If you already have installed the Launch Manager, the switching by the soft key should also work now (the bug with always showing the "running man" in the status bar is still there, but it is no problem as it is hidden by default).

Hope it works for you too! Enjoy!

I just register on this forum just for thanking you a lot (a lot, a lot... a LOTTTTT !!!!) redexec :)

After waiting near 6months (or more ? :/) few years ago, when windows 7 was released, until Fujitsu finally released appropriated drivers...
After trying (to see if I am lucky with my Amilo XA3530) to install windows 8, I had the same feeling as windows 7 first try...

With more one month in advance of me, you save huge time and patience with your tutorial !!! Luv'it ! ;)

I just add a little information which can be useful, because I searched for the two amd packages (mobility and legacy) during near one hour before being sure they were the good ones.
(I must be so stupid to give the good search words on AMD site to download it as fast as your tutorial is working ^^)

It worked for me on XA3530 with Windows 8 Pro x64 with these package names :

Tutorial from redexec

Step 2 (add) :

- AMD Catalyst x64 Legacy Drivers
amd_catalyst_12.6_legacy_win8.exe

- AMD Catalyst x64 Mobility Drivers
13-1_mobility_vista_win7_win8_64_dd_ccc_whql.exe
(downloaded via package : catalyst_mobility_64-bit_util.exe)

Enjoy our Amilo !
