Hi!
I really did it and installed windows 8 x64 on this one and I got it to run really smoothly! There were of cause some issues to mess around and for one thing there is no solution so far, but it is Ok for me. So I tried only the x64 version, hope the x32 works in the similar way...
So, first you just instal windows 8 in the normal way, once you decided which way to go. After the standard setup routine is finished you will find yourself in the new UI and it would already be not bad. Start the desktop app to get into the environment you are either used to, here you can start the device manager and other system controls in the old way and see what is going on.
First of all, you must get this dual ATI graphic device to work properly. Windows 8 installs a driver for both graphic cards, but only the small one is working and there is no control application to switch between them or Duane other settings like power consumption (the card simply runs on full power all the time, causing the fan to go up). So as all the old vista or windows 7 drivers offered by FSC won't be accepted, use the latest generic drivers for outdated devices offered by AMD. Don't forget to instal the control application at this. It may start not completely with windows, but you can help it by clicking on the symbol in the info tray. It should work in the end. For me, it works quite good, I can switch the cards, set the power express and the suspend mode works. After that instal the latest launch control for x64 you can find at FSC, I used the one from the vista x64 section, it works perfectly, you can switch the cards and so on.
Instal the latest Synaptics touch pad driver from their home page, it offers some nice controls specially for windows 8!
Forget to find working drivers for the IR receiver, there are no. So the remote control won't work. I personally never used it anyway.
Instal the newest drivers for the card reader from FSC, it will make some red unknown devices to disappear in the device manager.
The Web cam will work with windows' own standard drivers with most applications like Skype, but not with the camera app of windows 8
however, you can at least use the adjustment controls of the latest Logitech driver package, though the device is not supported..
That's it, enjoy!
