I noticed a great difference in speed in XP especially in running 7zip or similar archiving software, and in playing video games, of course...I hope I answered all your questions and concerns. You are not alone in this, all advise and recommendations are welcomed.
thom_anderson,
Thank You for answers. It really helps to read fresh comments on this subject...
I also noticed great differences with "Intel Dual Core T2080", almost 50-70% faster processing: converting audio, rendering video etc...
I hope so that T2350 will be even faster with it's 2mb cache. But most of all I hope so that there will be no more system freezing.
And freezing was main reason to back M450...
Maybe, as you said problem was old BIOS settings (could You explain it in few words when You find free time),
but I am sure that I did not modified BIOS at all.
Thermal paste "Cooler Master HTK-002GP" is applied on my CPU and the cooling pad "Notepal Infinite" is also there to help.
but even with all that cooling forces:
-Intel M450 CPU idle temp is 49C, 50C,
-Mozilla+Foobar+Speedfan+Avira =51C - 54C, (this combination of processes freezes system, but randomly and unexplainible - only with T2080 inside)
-Full load 61C - 63C.
(Full load is almost same with T2080, but Mozz+Foo+Speedfan+Avira =49C - 51C, Idle CPU temp. 48C, 49C.)
I am not sure is that ok, because Amilo V3515 becomes really hot at touchpad and over SouthBridge (but not all time).
Let me state that over-heat is not strictly connected to CPU temperature.
Sometimes Touchpad or SouthBridge becomes really hot without too many processes loaded)
That was main reason for me to start adventure with different processors.
I hoped that faster CPU will run quite cooler (T2080 was cooler!!! and complete V3515 was slightly cooler...but not that much as I supposed,
especially not TouchPad and SouthBridge )...
I returned "Intel Celeron M450" 5 days ago and there is no more system freezing, but I miss speed and less heat that brings T2080.
thom_anderson please keep us informed, because exchanging experiences really helps...
and we can never know wich part of smallest problem with V3515 could be solution for something much bigger and essential...
Everything is connected, one solution/possibility leeds to another.
