Greetings,

Maybe, as you said problem was old BIOS settings (could You explain it in few words when You find free time),
but I am sure that I did not modified BIOS at all.

If you opened up your Amilo, you might have noticed that there is a small battery, in my case there was black tape on it. It is called CMOS battery, and various settings stored there, more specifically, RAM memory timings, CPU ID, FSB frequency, and etc. Reading many forums, I have come to believe that removing the battery from the socket and then putting it back, restores the system settings back to factory default.

Also, when changing the CPU, do not forget to unplug the laptop battery, although I do not think that it is a rule , because I myself mistaken changed CPU with battery connected twice, and nothing happened, it is still alive. :D

Sp far checking from fan temperature, my reading shows me that today temperature did not exceed 51 C. I am running Windows 7, occasionally converting video, have Microsoft Security Essentials running on the back, and also browse through Internet Explorer, and Mozilla Firefox at the same time.

If I get the silent mode enabled, my fan runs about every 15 minutes for every hour of work, which is nice.

It is very strange that you experience temperature issues, even coming close to your touchpad. I would recommend cleaning the cooler, and also if possible (I have not tried it yet) changing thermopaste on the integrated video card. If you open the case that will be the one with aluminum top on it, and usually a black rubber pin.

My questions to you, are:
What OS are you on?
How much RAM do you have, and how much do you have after the system takes on your resources... check that with going into start/type cmd in run/ and then type systeminfo on the command prompt menu, and see how much physical memory you have available.

Good luck !!! :)

Dear thom_anderson TNX,

OS: MIcrosoft Windows XP Professional, 5.1.2600 Service Pack 3, Build 2600
x86-based PC
x86-Family 6 Model 14 Stepping 12 GenuineIntel 1994 Mhz
Bios Version FSC - 6040000
Total Physycal Memory: 1,790 MB
Available Physical Memory: 1,409 MB
Virtual Memory: Max Size: 2,048 MB
Virtual Memory: Available: 2,008 MB
Virtual Memory: In Use: 40 MB

I have 2x1GB Kingston 667mhz RAM instaled, but M450 runs at 533mhz. (256MB goes on GPU)
Bios is 1.0N-2309-8A20 -date 08/28/2009
CPU Intel Celeron M450

I am happy to tell You that I know how to remove CMOS battery, I did it once to remove misterious password from BIOS...
So I hope so that will be no problem,I just need to know should I remove it before or after instaling new CPU?

I did not know that CMOS battery keeps all that informations, maybe that was reason for freezing.
But I am sure that Windows reported that Dual Core T2080 has been successfully installed.

I am sure that I removed Amilo (Main, not CMOS) Battery while instaling T2080, but also I forgot to remove it while returning M450
back...anyway V3515 works fine after that...

Are You sure that under passive cooler is GPU, I was sure that that is NorthBridge?

It is very interesting Idea to change Thermal Paste on passive cooler, but I was affraid to remove it, because I heard that that could damage
part (whatever is it) attached on it!?! Also I am 100% sure that that part of Amilo is not too hot...

Mine Amilo Pro V3515 is perfectly clean inside in every tiny aspect, I must admit I am little bit obsessive by keeping it clean and dust free!
With T2080 inside, around 51C was standard CPU temperature even with few programs running, but still with overheating over TouchPad and NorthBridge.

Please let me know if You need some extra System info?

Thank You

Good news everyone,

So, CMOS battery can be removed after or before new CPU is installed.

There is a BIOS modded for Amilo Pro v3515. Please flash at your own risk. I flashed and right now working on getting it to work in Dual Channel, and also testing various hidden settings enabled via help of bios-mods group modder Kizwan.

I will keep you updated...

Later dudes.
