CMOS/BIOS Battery Amilo Si3655

Beitragvon Pim. » 29.08.2011 18:20

Hello,

Sorry, this post is in English because my Deutsch is nicht so gut, es tut mir leid. I know there is also an English Amilo-forum, but this German forum has many more active users is see.

I have an Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Si3655, exactly 2 years and 7 days old.
The problem is that my CMOS/BIOS battery has to be replaced because i had to change the date/time settings on almost every boot.

In the Netherlands, the warranty is 2 years, so they won't help me replace the battery. They customer-service of Fujitsu Siemens Netherlands said that the CMOS battery isn't replaceble because it is attached on the mainboard (soldered), so the only option is replace the mainboard. They said it will cost about €187 for the mainboard, and €130 labor   . The notebook was 'only' €599, two years ago....

I didn't believe in the fact that the only option is to replace the mainboard, i have nerver seen an mainboard where the CMOS battery was solderded on it before. So i want to try to replace the battery, but the problem is that i don't know where it is located (Not underneath the 2 service 'doors' located on the notebook), how to get there, and what kind of battery i need.

Does anyone know where the CMOS battery is replaced on the Amilo Si3655, or does anyone has some instructions on how to disassemble this notebook, or know if the CMOS battery is replaceable?

Vielen Dank,
Pim.

its not only a battery. here u see 2 pics from ur mainboard i hope its will help u http://www.fujitsu-ersatzteile.de/image ... 800388.jpg or http://www.fujitsu-ersatzteile.de/image ... 000181.jpg ur si3655 have 2 rev. numbers. its hard to find a new battery with this wire, but you can change only the battery when u remove this yellow foil/film then u can cut the wire and replace old cr2016 with a new cr2016 for 1€ then only tape old wire on new battery and finish it with a wall tubing.

i hope u undersand me and its help u.

Thanks for your help!

I have this mainboard (http://www.fujitsu-ersatzteile.de/image ... 800388.jpg).

If i'm right, the battery is located in the right corner, i can see a little bit of it.

This is the battery location, right?

So, unfortunately it is not reachable by the 'service-door' , so i have to remove the casing of the laptop. I tried that this morning, but i was not so sure becasue the plastic is not so good... Is there a manual somewhere for opening the casing without destroying it?

Will try to open the laptop tomorrow, look how much mAh the Cr2016 has to be, buy it and replace it. Hope it will work out well! :D

Tape is enough to fit the wire to the battery? Or is soldering also needed?

solder is better. and if u dont like open ur notebook stearch for a new place for new battery cut wire and place new battery anywhere, and keep old in case. if u dont like cut ur wire try change conector from a desktop vga card coolingfan (older have 2 pin), hdmi sound wire from a vga card (wire from mainboard to vga card) or some old mainboard have northbrige coolerfan with 2 pin. when u use a new place watch for a good isolation from the battery to the mainboard.

cr2016 have all the same mAh but dont buy the cheapest.

Thanks for the help!

Replaced the battery today and the notebook is still working :)
Bought an CR2032 battery with soldering points so it was more easy to attach the wires to it.

Isolated the battery with some tape, and placed it on a new spot on the mainboard.
