HILFE! Meine M3438G-Anzeige hat das Arbeiten gestoppt!

Beitragvon ubik » 08.01.2006 09:40

Sorry for posting in english, but i do not speak german and i am in a bad situation right now. I will post an automated translation using google translate, but i do not know how accurate it is.

-------------------------------

-------------------------------

Sorry for the panic in the title, but my M3438G's display has just stopped working and it looks pretty bad. While trying to install some driver software (Magic Tune) for my second monitor (a Samsung 193P) that was connected to my laptop trough DVI, i had to reboot, and when the laptop restarted, the image just went away.
All it would show now is some strage color patterns, that fade out over time and become either some other color, or they finally go black. I am very unhappy, as support in my country takes a lot of time and is poor quality and i depend a lot on my laptop, as i do all my work on it.
I thought it would be software related, so i reinstalled windows, but no luck; i can't even see the boot menu, or enter bios, the screen simply doesn't show nothing any more, except those strange colors. I can't even see the bios menu on the other display. It just shows some strange ASCII characters.
I really fear hardware damage in the lcd or related systems, but it seems absurd... how can a software install (may it be driver related) ruin things that bad? I think the video board is partially ok, as i can still use a second monitor connected on DVI.

Please, if anyone can help, with ideas / suggestions, it would be great! I am in some trouble right now...

-------------------------------

you can use your laptop with your external display?
Enter BIOS, load SETUP DEFAULTS. Switch off your laptop and remove AC adapter, battery and the external display. Push the Power Button for 5 seconds.
If that worked, enter BIOS again and load SETUP DEFAULTS again.

No guarantee that it will work. But that is what I would try.

If that does not work. Can you switch the display devices by pressing Fn+F4? Does it do anything?

Which BIOS version do you have installed?

Yes, i can use my laptop with my external display. It works ok.

But i cannot enter BIOS anymore. Before, when the laptop was booting, i would see the Fujitsu - Siemens logo and than the Windows XP boot logo. Now, the laptop display shows only that weird colors, and the external display shows nothing untill the windows logo. I tried pushing the key to enter BIOS, but if i do that, my external display would not show the bios, but some ASCII garbage, weird letters and ASCII dots all over the screen. I know it "entered" bios, because if i shortly press the POWER button than, it would turn off, and this is how it behaves when it is in BIOS, but i cannot see any menus. If it were booting, pressing power button for less than 6 seconds would do nothing.

My bios is 1.10C, latest version i think. I flashed it some time ago.
Fn+F4 does nothing at all. I do not think that my laptop display is detected as a display any more. For example in windows xp, it sees that is has two screens, but it doesn't detect the correct resolution for my laptop lcd. It just shows some generic display, i can try to activate it, so i can have image on both screens, but nothing happens.

I am now writing a backup with my things from the laptop so i can delete them if a have to take the laptop to repairs, and i will post a BIOS picture as soon as possible after i finish writing my dvd. I will also try removing all and pressing the power button for 5 seconds. What is that supposed to do? CMOS delete?

Thanks a lot for your answer, you are giving me some hope!
I will follow up soon.

------------------------------

Fn+F4 tut nichts an allen.

I tried removing everything including battery than pressing power button for more than 5 seconds, but nothing changed.

This is how it looks if i enter BIOS with external display connected:

So sad....

----------------------------------------------------

"Switch off your laptop and remove AC adapter, battery and the external display. Push the Power Button for 5 seconds."
Sometimes that helps with problems about the remote control. Dont ask me why.

But first, try to load the setup defaults. To do so, you have to:
(better you plug off the external TFT)
Start your computer, wait 1 second, press F2 , F2 , F2 , wait 5 seconds.

You should be in BIOS now.
Press Bild , Bild , Bild , Bild , Bild , ENTER , ENTER
(you have loaded setup defaults now), Bild , Bild , Bild , Bild , ENTER , ENTER (you have saved settings end exited)

Then you have loaded the setup Defaulfs. I hope that works.

I did exactly as you said, but nothing happened. I don't think my BIOS is working properly any more :-( I know it did not work, because at the end at that key combination the system should restart, but it doesn't.

-------------------------

@ChaosKrieger
Jep, habs ausprobiert.

Borkar

EDIT: Y muss man beim M3438G BIOS nie drücken.
@ubik
Just discussing whether I gave you the right combination to load setup defaults. But it is right.

@ubik
You can try to remove the BIOS battery and wait 20 minutes. Then put it back and check out if it helped.
(Maybe you have to start your laptop without BIOS-battery once. Then put it back.)

I think you should also try to reflash your grafik-board and even the the system bios. theres little chance for re-working after this, try the .60 grafik bios (flash in windows) and the system bios (hope theres a windows version too??, don`t know, sorry)

hope that would help...

The drivers for your TFT are here http://www.samsung.com/support/products ... &language=

Before you try to flash your BIOSes, try to reload setup defaults by removing the BIOS battery.

Regards
Borkar
EDIT: Seems that Magic Tuner tried to configure your laptopdisplay. That was no good idea of that program. If the settings of the internal display are saved in BIOS, you might be lucky by loading setup defaults (removing battery).
