Hello,
I am an owner of Fujitsu-Siemens Amilo1439G Laptop
with a Philips DVD+-RW SDVD8431 DVD drive.
I have problem that my drive does not read the DVDs it writes. The same DVDs runs on other PCs and DVD players. Also my DVD drive can read some DVDs burned on other machines, but there is not consistency in this too. I have tried using all combinations of DVDs like +R and -R of cheap ebay quality and as well as Branded ones like Philips and Verbatim. But i could not reach any conclusion. I use the latest Nero Version and the CD read write works absolutely fine.
I had called up the service centre and the support person suggested me to update the 'firmware'. However, while he was explaining me how to update the firm ware, the phone got cut and I couldnt get the line back. I called them again and they could not help me much.
Can You please help me by telling if the correct solution for the problem is to update the firmware. Also tell me how I should do it. Which fimware I need to update to and related details.
I Read some comments in the forum ‘ SDVD 8431 - Fact Finding mission!’. As suggested I have downloaded the LX51 firmware but I am a bit hesitant to run it as I haven’t done any such thing before. Also will updating the firmware have any effects on my warranty.
Please guide me with this problem.
I also request you to please reply in English as I know very basic German.
