Hallo Leute,
da ich mir ein neueres Amilo kaufen möchte (habe im Moment ein Amilo K7600) überlege ich welchen Prozessor es haben sollte.
Für Centrino habe ich mich schon entschieden, nur die Frage nach der Geschwindigkeit bleibt im Moment noch offen.
Wie wirken sich die verschiedenen CPU-Takte auf Stromverbrauch und Hitzeentwicklung in der Praxis aus?
In der Theorie un bei Desktop-Prozessoren gilt ja, je schneller desto heiss und desto mehr Saft...
Wie ist das bei den Centrinos? Hat da jemand praktische Erfahrung?

Well I guess you are familiar with the way laptops operate - they work on a lower frequency to save battery life and to dissipate less heat. For example my Centrino 1,6 GHz works constantly at 600MHz. Only when loaded, it goes up to 1,6. So basicly there is not much differece between all of them. It will either run on 600MHz or 800 depending on the frquency and multipliers.
Nevertheless, you can always undervalt it...
Also - if u plan to overclock it by PIN mod as I did, make sure to buy a 400MHz FSB Processor (1,6/1,7).

If you are looking for a silent laptop, you should better read all the forums regarding the models you are looking at. It is more dependable on the model, then on the processor itself. My girlfriend has a M6450 - much more silent then my M6453 although she has the 1,7GHz CPU, but no graphic card and hard to overclock as the heatpipes are not that good and the cooling wan't be able to take it.

When buying a laptop I recommend u first think of the most important things for you (silence/power/battery life/size) and then start looking for such comments in the forum. It is clear that you can never get all of them. More power (or graphic card) = less silence, less battery life and so on.

Wie Shiny schreibt (ich sage es nochmal auf deutsch), da die Pentium M-CPUs heruntertakten, wenn die Leistung nicht benötigt wird, verbrauchen sie alle gleich viel Strom.
Zu empfehlen ist das Senken der CPU-Spannungen - nur da gibt es Unterschiede: 2.2 GHz wird man nicht mit gleich geringer Spannung fahren können wie 1.7 - aber man kann eine 2.2 GHz CPU natürlich immer auch auf 1.7 laufen lassen...

Wichtiger für Geräusch- und Temperaturentwicklung ist die Grafikkarte und allgemein die Kühlung des Notebooks. Da hilft nur das Lesen von Berichten, wie das bei jedem Modell im Einzelnen ist.

So habe ich mir das schon gedacht, beim normalen Arbeiten taktet der Prozessor sowieso runter und ich habe eigentlich nichts von den 2 oder 2,13 Ghz...
Ich denke daran mir das 1437G zu kaufen, mir kommt es vor allem auf ein leises Notebook als auf eine leistungsfähige Grafikkarte. Ich werde hauptsächlich Programmieren, surfen und Office-Anwendungen benutzen.

Dann könntest du nach Alternativen mit integrierter Grafik suchen. Wenn man Grafikleistung nicht benötigt, hat man dadurch nur Nachteile.

And something else - If you plan to use Windows Vista with all of it's brilliance, then you definately need a graphic card.

you are programming and you don't need a powerful machine? Are u programming on Pascal!?

You don't need more than 800 MHz for programming. And I assume Niko06 doesn't develop games...
For Windows Vista integrated graphics of newer Centrino notebooks is good enough (because it supports DirectX 9).

I'm programming in delphi (pascal came near.. ) and vb6 and asp.net 2.0 in visual studio 2005. All this i do at the moment on my "old" K7600... ok, not very fast, but it works..
Vista? ok, why not... would be nice if i can run it temporarily in a virtual machine or something like that...but i think that takes a lot of system resources...
