@Pirate85

Sorry you missunderstood me, I don't want to cut the wires of the fan or other big changes. I know, that I have to modify my book to get it work with the new GPU.

@2-faces:
If you upgrade to a 7900,I would give you the advice,to also upgrade your Ram,to at least DDR400,because lower end components can choke the performance of high end units.
If you would run a 300 Mhz CPU,but a 7950GX2,it wouldn't give you high performance(just an example).
Und auf dem Sockel erschienen folgende Worte:"Mein Name ist Ozymandias,König der Könige.Betrachtet mein Werk ihr Mächtigen und verzweifelt!"

Did anybody test the 7900(is it really one with 512 Mb for only 380Euro?) or have just been told,that it works?

I'll be testing it in my own 3438 first. It should work, but like with the x1800 the thermal budget might be a problem. I guess we'll se. And yes, it's the 512MB version, and yes it's 'only' 3680€

Hi there,

I'm owner of an Amilo 1667 which as a crappy x700 card. This card has to be replaced, but I only want a new card for my mashine which works 100% without any limitations (cutting wires etc.) or thermal Problems.

I'm interested in the 7900GS but I want to know the technical specifications and the performance in comparison with a Ati X1800.

Thanks for all.

MfG

Hi 2faces,

Currently, Topkman has tested a 6800 in your notebook and that works fine. The 7900 has not been tested. Topkman also claims a Type III would fit.

If so, the 7900GS should work at least but again... thermal ;)[/url]

He has ordered a 7900GS @ ure Shop Ice-Tea, right? ;) So u will know it in a few Weeks :) but at least i checked the Temps in my Laptop for two days now with the new Graphiccard -

CPU: max 70°C (2,4Ghz - Full @ Work ^^ )
GPU: max 73°C - 32°C Space before Thermal downclocking (overclocked to 520/840Mhz)
Internal Temperature: max 70°C

this temps are very Good, hope Topkman Post his Temps with the Gf 6800 later...he´s very Busy at moment.

I´ve Looked @ the x1800 which is working in a Friends´ Xi 1546...and iam Sure that it will work without Modifications in my M1437(9)G but someone must check this out...i´ve no money to order a new Card @ This Moment.

Nobody has ordered anything except for me ;) I should have the cards next week or so and I'll be abusing the card to the xtreme to make sure the 3438 holds. It'll be up to other folks to test them on other platforms.

Topkman sure will give it a Try ;)

Have you any informations about 6800/ x1800 temps in your 3438 (if it Possible,additional CPU and internal Temps are Welcome)? it could be
usefull for me (via PM Pls)

Nope, I'm sorry. I've been running a lot of benchmarks lately and my thermal material has worn out. The readings are no longer representative. I will have rough consumption figures available pretty soon.

Hello all together, the temperature in my system (PI1536) equivalent case M1437/9G is 65-75 C. when fan is normal working, but i have built a specific cable from usb-connector to fan-connector when is needed, e.g. for games. The fan is working then with full power and the temperature is still constant by 75-85 C. I hope this is helpfully for you Pirate85.

I'm still waiting of 7900gs from MXM-Upgrade, maybe i have a chance for testing, looking forward to get 7900GS.

Gruesse an alle.

will happen if it works in my M1437(9)G ;) iam Reliant that there can done something to keep the sys Cooler. Did u eventually remember which temps the 6600 Reaches in ure System? I Overclocked it very much (without Probs, ure right with the "GT";) )

Such mal unter Google.

@Senior in a much earlier post ^^

Yes, I want to upgrade several things of my 1667g. I want to make my Notebook as powerful as it could be. The things I want to change are:

The RAM from 1GB DDR333 -> to -> 2GB DDR400 (because more bandwith for the singlechannel Turion),
The GPU from a Mobility x700 -> to -> maybe a 7900GS (better would be a GO, because more performance and energy efficent),
The CPU from a Turion ML-37 -> to -> a Turion MT-40 (because of more speed, but less heat),
The HDD from a Seagate 4200.2 100GB -> to -> a Hitachi 7k100 100GB (because of the much higher performance)

Well, I know, that i have changed all components, but I want to tune my book ^^.
