MXM Upgrade: x1800 price question

Beitragvon Ice-tEA » 17.05.2006 09:36

Hello all,

Some of you may know me already, for the others: I represent http://www.mxm-upgrade. We aim to make MXM cards publicaly available. Untill now, we have only been able to source Type II 6600's and 'Arima Special' 6800's.

But now we have found a source for x1800 and x1600 cards. But the prices are pretty ridiculous. Taking everything into acount, it would be commercial suicide to offer them for anything less than 425€.

As the Amilo users base is also our biggest potential costumer base, I was hoping that I could get a little insight whether people would be willing to pay these high prices. If so, I will purchase some and see how it goes.

Looking forward to your reply,
Ice-Tea

Hi,

425€ for X1600 or X1800?
This is a lot money. What about a 7800/7900 go (i am not an ati fan)?
At the moment i have a 6800go. I would be interested in an ati X1800 if there is no 7800/7900go available, but not before the summer (august-september).

Sorry for my bad english

edit: Works the X1800 with FSC Amilo M3438G?

Hi,

Thank you for your reply. This is about the x1800, no word on a 7800 just yet. It should work with the x438 series just fine, but it needs to be verified obviously.

Your English is just fine ;) I know I should post this on the English forum, but there's more folks here. Feel free to reply in German btw. I can read it just fine, but people would die from laughter if I would try to type my post in it ;)

If it works with FSC Amilo 3438 it would be great.

DDR3, clockspeed: keine ahnung aber ich glaube default
-------
DDR3. No idea about clockspeeds but defaults should work just fine as the X1800 does not consume more power than the 6800.

BTW, how's my phonetic German getting allong?

A X1600 would be indeed intresting!

Beitragvon pikas53 » 17.05.2006 15:36

Hi there!
I followed these posts about an MXM upgrade with growing interest. As I possess an Amilo 3438G and Pi1536 I would like to upgrade the smaller one. Its X1400 is a quite lousy solution, but the prize for the X1600 is neckbreaking high!
Especially as I don't know exactly if it is usable with the Amilo pi 1536. I opened both of them and shot some photos (I can send them if you like) and it seemed that in the pi1536 is enough space for a bigger card, in fact, there should be a bigger card included to my opinion.
So two questions: what is the equivalent to the X1600 and would it be corresponding cheeper?? (Not the 6xxxSeries) Even so I am an ATI fan I have to take a serious look at my purse!
Would be nice if you could answer this one!
Thanks in advance!

Please send me the pictures. Depending on available room, I might be able to set you up with a 6800 'Arima Special' or a x1800.

I can only check mechanics, I can't guarantee it will be OK thermally.

Hallo

OK here are the fotos. Sorry not so good quality. Maybe it will help. I took the foto when I replaced the pad with some cooper pieces for better cooling.
By the way you think an X1800 will work??

 Am I the only one who notices they are practically identical?

If this is the case and the 1536 has the same room available as the 3438, you should be able to replace them without problems.

There's a minor point that may throw some dust, and that's your AC adapter. Your notebook is likely to consume a bit more, so if it gets too hot you may need to replace it.

Mahlzeit!

Ice-tEA, could you possibly send me the meassures off an X1600 and an X1800? Would be interesting if I could possibly fit it into the pi1536. At the moment my X1400 runs 540/400, giving surprisingly acceptably results, and even getting not so hot as I expected. So I don't think I would have thermal problems. But I have to check if the cooling unit is big enough.
If an X1800 fits this baby would be the hell of an maschine!

Thanks in advance!
