Ok.

It's running stable now.

Maxim, are you stil considering a purchase? I do not promote this upgrade as it is, in my opinion, way to expensive, but if you want one I'll make arrangements.

Could you add a quick 3DMark05 Benchmark and the configuration of the Amilo 3438G (CPU, RAM)?

I got 4550 3DMark05's, stock.

However, before drawing conclusision I would appreciate a little more time. Specifically, I would like to run stock benchmarks with the 6800 on my system. My configuration is fairly weak (1.73GHz/512MB) and it would be unfair to compare to a 2GH 2GB system.

And I would like to see how far I can push the x1800 :D

Hmm, currently i have something about 3850 points (no overclocking). So, 400 Euro for 700 points it quit expensive. :-/

Is there any chance that you will get a x1800 XT? Or i still have to wait and hope you will get a cheaper supplier of the x1800. ;-)

First off all, I perfectly agree with you: regardless off performance, this card is way to expensive. I obviously hope to

a) Bring the price down
b) Get faster cards.

Unfortunately, I have no cards in sight yet. You wouldn't believe how hard it is to get them.

Secondly, I think you are slightly cutting the card short. Your notebook's CPU is considerably faster than mine. I expect the results to show a 25-30% performance increase over the 6800.

Whether or not that is enough to warrant the excessive 425€ is up to you guys to decide ;)

Stay tuned for additional benchies.

Update: ran the tool again after tinkering a bit with ATI settings. Got 4830 ;) I guess I'm just not comfortable with ATI hardware :(

Tweaked the fans a bit: 5058. Still stock.

EDIT: 5161 on another run.

EDIT:

Grrrmmm.. Overclocking is disabled

Ice-tEA hat geschrieben:But there's another problem. The fan doesn't kick in under heavy load any more. The fan is not recognised, can't read GPU temps anywhere and while benchmarking the fan stays at low rpm untill it shuts down in thermal protection mode.

Any ideas/suggestions appreciated...
